UNI HOSPITAL CELEBRATED 6 YEARS SINCE ITS OPENING AND 130 YEARS SINCE THE ESTABLISHMENT OF A HOSPITAL IN PANAGYURISHTE

Dr. Drenski thanked all members of the hospital team emphasizing that they stand behind everything that is Uni Hospital now, have given their lives on behalf of patients and are the engine that leads the hospital forward.

The 130th anniversary of the establishment of the first medical institution in Panagyurishte – a hospital with 20 beds and 6 years since the opening of Uni Hospital, the legal successor of Sabo Nikolov Hospital, was marked with a water dedication for health and a presentation forum. The Attorney General of the Panagyurishte Spiritual District, Atanas Manolov, prayed for health and wished well-being to the entire team of the hospital in a solemn ritual attended by the mayor of Panagyurishte, the management of the hospital, representatives of the Bulgarian Medical Union, prominent medics, etc.

„During all these years, the hospital has been a center for the development of health care in the region. In recent years, it has established itself as a leading medical institution in the country, preferred by patients“, welcomed the guests Dr. Yavor Drenski, manager of Uni Hospital.

„This hospital was built with the donations of our fellow citizen – Mr. Sabo Nikolov. In the beginning it was a modest medical facility with 20 beds, but we see what scale we have today. This is thanks to all those who have walked this path step by step. Everyone has given their best here – each leader, each municipal governance under the support provided by the strategic partner and main investor Assarel Medet, so I think that on a day like today we must also look back,“ said the mayor of Panagyurishte distrcict Mr. Nikola Belishki. „Continue to pursue the highest standards in medicine not only nationally, but also at European and global level,“ Mr. Belishki wished the entire hospital team.

Angel Prodanov, procurator and Medical director at the hospital presented its history, emphasizing that today there would be no holiday if it were not for the work of Prof. Lachezar Tsotsorkov – initiator and engine for implementation of the project for the establishment of Uni Hospital. „Prof. Tsotsorkov was a genuine visionary, he foresaw the future and the place in it of a modern medical institution, he managed to unite huge public support and civic trust for this cause,“ Dr. Prodanov said.

The manager of the hospital Dr. Yavor Drenski stated at the beginning of his presentation that the hospital is an example not only in the field of medicine, but also a model of how public-private partnership between Panagyurishte Municipality and Assarel-Medet Ltd. can be successful and to benefit the community and patients. Dr. Drenski pointed out that since 2016 more than 97,000 patients have been treated at the hospital, more than 16,000 operations have been performed, and more than 1,000 deliveries were conducted. Uni Hospital has a lot of potential and the goal of the management is to be entirely at the service of patients, not only in the country but also from abroad. This is the first hospital in Bulgaria to be accredited for international health tourism from Global Healthcare Accreditation – the gold standard in medicine for all who want to admit international patients. More than 70% of those who passed through the hospital are beyond the district, which shows that the medical facility is recognized by patients throughout the country, has national significance and is proud to bear its name,“ said Dr. Drenski.

The activity and the team of the Oncology Center and the Department of Medical Oncology were presented by their head Dr. Rositsa Krasteva, who emphasized that the individual approach to each patient is leading for the entire team. Interesting clinical cases, the advantages of the modern equipment used and the multidisciplinary approach were pointed out by the Head of the Department of Radiotherapy Dr. Zahari Zahariev, the Head of the Clinic of Vascular Surgery Assoc. Prof. Dr. Andrian Tonev and the Head of the Department of Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery Dr. Regina Hatar. The donor program of Uni Hospital was presented by Dr. Todor Shopov from the Department of Anesthesiology and Intensive Care.

Drenski thanked all members of the hospital team emphasizing that they stand behind everything that is Uni Hospital now, have given their lives on behalf of patients and are the engine that leads the hospital forward. Dr. Drenski wished their aspiration to continue so that more ill Bulgarians and foreigners treated in our country can have the opportunity to touch the high quality provided by the hospital team.
