A MODERN DEPARTMENT WITH EXPERIENCED SPECIALISTS

There are three sub-departments at the Department of Cardiology – the Department of Invasive Cardiology, the Department of Intensive Cardiology and the Department of Clinical Cardiology.

The Department of Invasive Cardiology has been equipped with a new Philips Allura FD20 Clarity Angiographic Unit and performs full-spectrum diagnostic and interventional procedures. This includes scheduled and emergency coronary interventions in cases of acute myocardial infarction, unstable and stable angina pectoris, etc.; diagnostic procedures in valvular and congenital heart diseases, pericardiocentesis; intraaortic balloon contrapulsion; right and left cardiac catheterization, angiography of other vessels – carotid, renal, etc.

The Department of Clinical Cardiology organizes the diagnosis and treatment activities of both invasive patients and patients who are conservatively treated. It has a variety of diagnostic capabilities while using the General Electric Vivid9 ultrasound unit. In addition to transthoracic echography, transesophageal echocardiography is performed, too; Holter – ECG and blood pressure monitoring; working Treadmill ECG sample and veloergometry.

The Department of Intensive Care is located adjacent to the Department of Clinical Cardiology. It has 6 beds and provides intensive care and 24-hour active monitoring of critically ill patients with myocardial infarction, cardiogenic shock, severe rhythm disorders, pulmonary thromboembolism, acute heart failure, etc. The physiological data monitoring system (ECG, blood pressure, temperature, etc.) gives the treating team precise and very comprehensive information about a patient’s condition thus greatly improving a patient’s personalized care. The Department has a contra-pulsator hence providing the possibility of implanting temporary electrocardiostimulators. A team of highly specialized physicians – cardiologists and resuscitators, nurses and janitors takes care of the patients in the Department around the clock.
