HISTORY

• A multi-specialty hospital for active treatment „Uni Hospital“ was built on the territory of Panagyurishte. The city was the capital of the April Uprising of 1876, which put Bulgaria on the European map and as a result of which Europe rose up against the Ottoman Empire.
• In Panagyurishte, the world-famous Panagyurishte gold treasure was also discovered, which consists of 9 vessels, made perfectly, precisely and without analogue. The phial from the famous Panagyurishte Treasure is the prototype of the graphic element of the Uni Hospital logo, which symbolizes round-the-clock patient care.
• The first temporary medical facility in Panagyurishte was the work of Lady Strangford’s mission. Two years after the suppression of the April Uprising, in the summer of 1878, she built a hospital with twenty beds and medical staff in the Dudekova house. Today, the Dudekova House is part of the complex of the Historical Museum – Panagyurishte.

• In 1971, the construction of a Regional Hospital began in Panagyurishte, which received its first patients on May 2, 1979. It was built on an area of ​​1400 square meters, on 8 floors, and serves the population of today’s Panagyurishte and Strelcha municipalities.

• By decision of the Municipal Council in Panagyurishte from September 2000, the municipal hospital began to bear the name of Sabo Nikolov. This patriotic Panagyurishte was the first Bulgarian Rotarian. He emigrated to the United States and bequeathed a donation of $10,000 to the Panagurishte Hospital. During his lifetime, Sabo Nikolov donated quite a few hospital beds and equipment. Today, his monument, built by the Rotary Club – Panagyurishte, stands in the City Park, not far from the „Arena Asarel“ sports hall and the lake with the singing fountains.
• After 1986, the largest and structure-determining enterprise in the municipality of Panagyurishte „Asarel-Medet“ JSC consistently supports the preservation and strengthening of the municipal hospital by providing medical equipment for about BGN 1 million
• Multispecialty hospital for active treatment „Sabo Nikolov“ EOOD has the status of a municipal hospital until 31.03.2014, when the owner of 90% of the capital becomes the established investment company „Asarel Panagyurishte Zdrave“ EOOD.
• The project for the modern medical complex in Panagyurishte is an example of a successful model of public-private partnership – between the Municipality of Panagyurishte, „Asarel-Medet“ AD, attracted investors and dozens of doctors and medical specialists from Panagyurishte and the country.
• The first sod, which marked the start of construction, was made on April 29, 2015 by the mayor of Panagyurishte municipality, Nikola Belishki, and the chairman of the Supervisory Board of „Asarel-Medet“ JSC Prof. Dr. Lachezar Tsotsorkov. In just a few months, a complete reconstruction of the existing depreciated hospital building was carried out and an oncology center, technologically connected to the medical complex, was additionally built

• The investment in the construction and equipment of Uni Hospital in Panagyurishte amounts to over 120 million BGN. In 2019, the Hospital received two national medical awards – for investments and special thanks to patients. Six doctors received the recognition „Doctors we trust“ on „24 Chasa“. In 2018, Uni Hospital won the 24 Hours readers’ award for innovation in medicine. In 2016, the medical facility received the Medical Oscar for Innovation. This is the largest investment in Bulgarian healthcare in the last 25 years and because of it „Asarel-Medet“ AD and „Asarel Panagyurishte Zdrave“ AD received the big award „Investor of the Year“ for 2015 from the Bulgarian Investment Agency and a certificate from the Ministry of the economy for „Investor First Class“.
• Today, the hospital complex has 340 beds and employs over 700 medical and non-medical personnel.
